Run:ai – an Enhancing AI Workload Management Expertise Acquired by Nvidia for $700M

Run:ai, a Tel Aviv-based startup that streamlines the management and optimization of AI hardware infrastructure for development and operations teams, is being acquired by Nvidia.

With regards to Run:ai’s product roadmap, an Nvidia official said that it will keep providing its products “under the same business model.” Run:ai is a part of Nvidia’s DGX Cloud AI platform, which provides enterprise customers with access to software and compute infrastructure for training models for generative and other forms of artificial intelligence. Run:ai’s capabilities will also be available to Nvidia DGX servers and workstations, as well as DGX Cloud clients, for their AI workloads. It is especially useful for generative AI deployments that span several data center locations.

“Run:ai has been a close collaborator with Nvidia since 2020, and we share a passion for helping our customers make the most of their infrastructure,” Omri Geller, the organization’s CEO, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to join Nvidia, and we look forward to continuing our journey together.”

Businesses must leverage their AI computer resources more effectively, and customer AI deployments are getting more complicated. By building a strong customer base of Fortune 500 businesses, Run:ai was able to draw in venture capital funding. It raised $118 million in funding before being acquired, with investors including Insight Partners, Tiger Global, S Capital, and TLV Partners.

Run:ai is one of Nvidia’s largest purchases after it acquired Mellanox for $6.9 billion in March 2019. Although Run:ai doesn’t have many direct competitors, other businesses are utilizing the idea of dynamic hardware allocation for AI workloads.
