CPC Project Services is transitioning into employee ownership in an effort to lead a new phase of expansion. Executive Chairman Steve Mole will still lead the company, but employees will be more involved in its operations.
With a stake in the company’s long-term performance and the opportunity to receive dividend payments, employee ownership trusts (EOTs) give employees effective ownership of the business, which may inspire them to motivate further growth. In the UK, EOTs are the business ownership structure that is expanding the fastest. The Employee Ownership Association reports that there are currently slightly under 2,000 employee-owned enterprises in the UK, with 332 of those companies switching to employee ownership in 2022. The overall number of businesses that are completely or partially owned by their employees increased by 37% in a year as of June 2023.
CPC Project Services CEO Steve Mole said, “I am thrilled to be able to announce CPC’s transition to an Employee Ownership Trust. We’ve been working for many months to ensure that this change in business structure is in the best interests of our employees and clients, as well as cementing CPC’s long-term strategic commitment to remain an independent and agile project and cost management consultancy.”
Over 320 highly qualified project management and consulting specialists work for CPC, which was founded 34 years ago. Its offices are located in Oxford, Glasgow, Dublin, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Stoke in addition to its London headquarters.
Among its latest undertakings are the £5.4 billion Four Lines Signalling Modernization Programme of Transport for London, the Points Cross Housing Regeneration Programme in Leeds by Guinness Partnership and the National Fleet Transition Programme for EV car charging infrastructure by Network Rail.
